"Serve & Protect Burke Families"

About Me imageAbout Me image
My name is Jamey Wycoff, and I am a lifelong resident of Burke County. My family also has deep roots in eastern Burke. I have been married to my wife, Lora, for ten years. We have a daughter who is in second grade and a son in Kindergarten. I also have a son, Justin, who is married and just had a daughter. I am a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where I serve as the treasurer and teach Bible study.

After I graduated East Burke High School, I worked at Rutherford College Elementary School in the After School Program. I was awarded the 1998-1999 Burke County Public School After-School Worker of the Year and the 1999 Rutherford College Elementary Staff of the Year Award. It was during this time that I realized that I wanted to serve the community and I completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Caldwell Community College in 2000.

After graduating BLET, I wanted to work in my own community but at that time open positions at law enforcement agencies for patrol were very few. God had different plans for my life, and I began working at the Hudson Police Department where I remained for almost 23 years. During my service as a Police Officer, I learned that kindness and compassion can cultivate unity within any community, and I saw the importance of investing in future generations. During this time, I was awarded Officer of the Year by my peers in 2003 and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. In 2004, I was one of only 3 officers who were dual sworn with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office to be members of the multi-jurisdictional Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). In 2005, I became an instructor for In-Service Training, Basic Law Enforcement Training and I specialize now in Driver Training.

I also continued investing in kids as a coach and mentor for Ray Childers Elementary Athletics, including football, basketball and softball. In addition to teaching sports fundamentals, I also emphasized teamwork, integrity, and respect.

In 2009, I began a full-time role in my family business. My competencies continued to expand to include management of budget demands and effective problem-solving. After the governor shut down businesses across the state at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, the products that were manufactured for my business came to an abrupt halt. I was able to make creative use of limited resources. I now have in-depth experience across all core business functions and operations. I have developed strong leadership, communication, negotiation, creative and analytical skills.

In December of 2022, I resigned my position at the police department to spend more time with my family and to advocate for parents rights. My passion, responsibility, and commitment go beyond my children and extends to all the children in Burke County. Above all, my faith in Christ has developed who I am today and motivates my service for others.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
